Unit 1 - What is Psychology
U1:A1 - Biographical Case Study - This is a 3 part assignment.
a. Write a biography of a famous person of your choosing.
b. Choose and describe one of the 7 psych perspectives from your book
c. Write a case study where you explain the famous person's behavior using the psych
perspective you chose.
U1:A2 - Using the Scientific method - Watch this video about Jane Goodall
Discuss whether or not Jane met the standard of the scientific method. Did she
complete the steps of the scientific method. If not, why?
U1:E1 - Ethics in Experimental Research - Go to the wiley site and click on the interactive psych perspectives link. Connect the proper perspective with its picture and when your done click the submit button. Take a screen shot of your results page and email it to me.
Unit 2

issues involved and how you would change the study to get the same information but in an ethical manner.
U2:E1 - The Brain - Fill out the parts of the brain on these diagrams and what each parts function is.

U3:A1 - Circadian Rhythms, Sleep Disorders, and Deprivation - Complete the quiz in your book on pg.
126 in your book. In a word document, discuss the results of your quiz and what you can do to
improve your sleep pattern.
U3:E1 - Sensation and Perception of the Human Senses - Go to the Wiley site under Unit 3 and watch the Animation: Perception video. Record your answers to the questions asked throughout the video in a word document, and e-mail the document to me.
U3:P1 - Biographical Case Study - Revise your U1:A1 and re-submit. If you did not submit U1:A1, or you want to change the person your writing about, then please follow the guidelines for U1:A1 and submit this to me as a word document, in APA format.

U4:A1 - Operant Conditioning in action - Follow this link,

U4:A2 - Improving Memory, Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval - On the wiley site, watch and answer the questions associated with the Animation:Enhancing Memory. Send your answers in a word document, to my email.

****We completed U3:Quiz 1 in class. If you were not present then you must go to the LRC to complete yours between now and class time next week. There is already one waiting for you with your name on it. Ask the librarian to put it in my box in the instructor's area when you have completed it.
Unit 5
U5:A1 - Language and Thinking - On the Wiley site, go to unit 5 and complete the animation for Problem Solving and send me the answer via email in a word doc. Then complete the visual learning activity for Problem solving, take a screen shot of your results page, and email it you me.
U5:E1 - The Intelligence Controversy - Take the Multiple Intelligence Assessment from this site http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks3/ict/multiple_int/. Click on the Take a Test tab, take a screen shot of your results page, and email it you me.
U5:P2 - Project References - Revise your reference page from your final project to include at least a total of four references related to your paper. Under each reference, write a few sentences explaining
why you chose to use that reference and what relevance it has to your paper.
Unit 6
U6:A1 - Deprivation and Development - Watch the animations on the my wiley site entitled 'Piaget and Cognitive Development' and 'Kohlberg Stages of Moral Reasoning'. Answer the questions and submit the answers via email.
U6:A2 - Applying Kohlberg's Theroy to Heinz Dilemma - On the wiley site, watch the Unit 6 animation for Kohlberg and submit the answer asked in the animation in a word document.
U6:E1 - Social and Moral Development - Follow the directions for the P3 assignment. This grade will count twice, as the assignment 1 grade and the project 3 grade.
U6:P3 - Biographical Case Study : Erikson and Kohlberg - Discuss how your person of interest progressed through each stage of Erikson's Psychosocial theory and Kohlberg's theory of Moral Development. Give at least 3 examples of behaviors that demonstrate either their domination of/by different stages.
Unit 7
U7:A1 - Is Maslow's Heirachy of Needs Universal - Apply Maslow's Heirarchy to yourself. Discuss whether you have met the stages, what stage you may be stuck in, and why? How do you plan to pass the stage your stuck in?
U7:E1 - Polygraph Test - Does it Work? - Go to the Wiley site and watch the Animation: Polygraph. In word, answer the questions asked in the video and e-mail me your answers.
U7:P4 - Maslow and Freud- Take your famous person of interest and subject them to Freud's Psychosexual theory. Discuss the id ego and super ego, the defense mechanisms, and Psychosexual personality theory. Then Maslow's Heirachy of Needs. Go through each stage, starting from the first one, and discuss whether or not your person meets or is stuck in the stages using examples from their behavior.

Unit 8
U8:A1 - Social, Moral, and Personal Development - On the Wiley site, complete the animation regarding cognitive dissonance. In word, answer the questions from the animation.
U8:E1 - Assessing Personality - Follow the link below. Put in your first and last name. Under the Assessments tab highlight What about me, then Personality Insights, then What's My Jungian 16-Type Personality. Take the personality test from the virtual library. Unit 9
U9:A1 - Anxiety and Mood Disorders - Watch Girl Interrupted and discuss one of the characters disorder including syptoms, causes and treatment options. Email in word.
U9:A2 - Gender and Cultural Effects on Abnormal Behavior - Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvdw4b7tC-8&list=PL68551C4B4EAC02D4 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6h8Ic-I7R0&list=PL68551C4B4EAC02D4. Discuss the gender differences that you see between the two patients.
U9:E1 - Schizophrenia - On the Wiley site, complete the Schizophrenia animation and submit the answers to the questions in a word document.
U9:PRD - Project rough draft - In Power Point, prepare the presentation of your case study. Include a short bio, a brief description on the perspective you chose, the application of this perspective to your person, and what stage they are in regarding Erikson, Kohlberg, Freud, and Maslow with examples. Conclude with a summary of something you think could have changed this person for the better had it gone differently.
